I think that was the first match a lot people went 
about a match getting so much praise. But there was a another large group that really loved it. I never saw it because at that point I was more than done with Davey's retarded shtick

This was the Davey Richards is the next "Benoit" phase of the internet.. and they were obviously wrong, he modeled a lot of his game after Benoit but with no subtlety at all.
Meltzer and his board were stans for a while but it died off fairly quickly.

The more "famous" he got, the worse he became. Once the Nigel/Bryan generation left the indy scene, Davey became the main guy and he took everything he did that made for fun (or great, depending on your taste) matches to such an extreme level that they devolved into
moves fests that had stuff like that infamous superplex to suplex to the outside giif in his matches with Eddie Edwards. He was also never good with the mic nor creating a character, as he started to act more "intense" and serious he ended up becoming more of a parody of a wrestler than anything else. I was a fan of him for a while but it really was short lived. He went from

in like a year span. He was cool in PWG because everyone was cool in Reseda thanks to the vibe, crowd and lightness of everything. And he stopped going once he became the top indy guy. He was good enough in New Japan too, because he couldn't go full retard there.
