I have Ubuntu on a VM (Virtualbox on my 2011 Macbook Air) and Lubuntu on a m1330 I use strictly for work.

I got Ubuntu 12 running on my comp

I had to get a new wireless card, couldn't get the old one to work. It is pretty good. Boots up WAY faster than Windows, runs smoother on the internet too.

Only problem I have now is accessing my home server. My recording equipment doesn't work on it either.

If I could, I would have a desktop to run Windows, and then have an Ubuntu netbook. Really all I wanted it for

A couple of us run Ubuntu or another flavor of Linux. The 32-Bit version is probably still the way to go if compatibility is the main concern.

What exactly is the issue with the home server? Recording equipment is a given, not much is supported out of the box

I can see my home server, but when I try to click into it to pull up the folder list it says it can't connect. Its a common problem w/12.04, haven't found a straightforward solution.

I use Ubuntu as my main OS and rarely have problems with anything.

Basically I built my computer and was too cheap to buy Windows, so I was like "fukk it, I'll roll with Ubuntu".

Ubuntu 12.04 64bit

Like Liquid alluded to, WINE gets on its period with the 64bit version.
