Kevin Costner Finally Shared His (Full) Side of the ‘Yellowstone’ Story

This leaves out two major things in the mix...COVID and the industry strikes. Either way, the suits did what they always do: pit people against each other to get their way, and run smear campaigns in the gossip rags to sway public opinion.
Part of me feels there is shyt he is leaving out…but whatever. Damn fukking shame…this final season bout to be rushed and trash :beli:

True test gonna be what the second episode numbers gonna be.
Costner said in an interview Monday morning that he hadn’t seen the episode and didn’t know how the show would write his character off until after it aired. “They’re pretty smart people,” Costner said of the “Yellowstone” writers, adding that how they dealt with Dutton was entirely “their business.”

He said of no longer being on the show, “It was difficult for them to keep their schedule. It seemed to be, it was just too difficult for them to do it.” He added: “I didn’t leave. I didn’t quit.”

That’s EXACTLY what it was :russ:

Just off that episode, this is giving off the energy that the final season of “House Of Cards” gave off.

That’s why I’m very :pacspit: at Kevin Costner being a whole bytch with how he handled leaving the show. His character dead ass has sub plots with other characters that I was lowkey intrigued in and now that he is gone the writers gotta either write them off or retcon them.

John’s absence legit backs the writers into a corner and come up with some shyt that’s gonna end the entire series off on a decent note.

Kevin really is a bytch for doing this :martin:
You doing too much:russ:

This is not such a simple situation to be like "Kevin is being a bytch" there's a lot to consider

Taylor Sheridan got like 6 projects going:mjlol: this is obviously a recipe for scheduling conflicts, especially if you're still active as an actor

For 99% of the Yellowstone cast this is the biggest thing they've ever done. They don't mind waiting on that Yellowstone lick. But most major active actors ain't trying to be inactive because they're locked in a big ass contract for a big ass show

The there's the pandemic, then there's a writers strike

When Costner says he didn't leave the show, I believe him:manny: I just think so many scheduling conflicts and phone calls that ended in no resolution built up to the point where it wasn't gonna work out. Shyt happens:manny:

Another thing: I strongly doubt this just ends. Sheridan most likely could do with a lessened workload, if not a vacation from everything...but there's no way the machine lets the cash cow they have with Beth and her antics just fall by the wayside. They know they've tapped into something there. Guaranteed they'll be in Sheridan's ear non-stop to "bring them back" somewhere down the line if not immediately. Spinoff, refocus on her and Rip, however they come at it.

Beth and Rip alone ain't enough to hold up a show. I have a feeling this season is about to prove that:mjlol:

Both characters serve as cathartic vehicles that make for good YouTube shorts, but they can't be the entire show

I agree they're not enough. Costner was ultimately the focus of the story. You just can't underestimate the numbers on Beth's character, they ramped up her shenanigans because so many women tuned in just because of her. And the suits love their numbers.
