Mos Def shouldn't be singing under any circumstance. Umi Says was a fluke and even his singing teetered on the edge of wackness midway through the song. Umi says worked because the beat is spectacular and 'drifting'. So Mos sings a couple words/lines here and there, drifts and it sounds amazing within the first 2 min. But the song starts to wear thin after then.

Leave the singing-over-the-entire-track to singers, please.

He sounds fine doing a little harmonizing and singin a couple lines here and there but anything more than that is doing too much. His singing voice isnt that strong and he easily gets off key. Umi Says worked but no one mentions how he sounded off on Climb

As far as bars, he doesnt seem that inspired to just rip a strong 16. Last verse i heard from him was a wackass 8 bar jawn on the last Rocky album

^^ Umi says was a freak event. Mos needs to understand despite his array of talents, singing is not one of them. He is a top 20 spitter when he dedicated in the booth, but his singing is basically . He needs to stop creating this stuff. If he feels he needs to create then just do this in jam sessions but don't release these weed plates, or write for other artists.

These songs are made worse by the painfully abstract and esoteric lyrics . He went off the rails years ago, so fortunately I have zero expectations for his work, so I'm not dissapointed per SE but it's more of a lost opportunity when he has so much talent but it's wasted on his singing fantasies.

Who would really listen to this sht if it wasn't made by mos/yasiin? you would call it what it was, a weedplate. He hardly raps on the EP, nor makes any sense, y'all stans need to stop indulging dudes fantasies.

Edit: being compared to Cudi is not a good thing either.

I would think Mannie Fresh would keep Mos in check. Maybe I'm naive with that notion. Probably will be on Tidal too.

For the past 10 years all I expect from most is

Hope he goes in on the mannie project, but I'd be stupid to get my hopes up with someone who continually dissappoints. I heard one of the mannie joints and it was fire, but mos probably again. I wouldn't be sutprsised if whatever they work on doesn't see the light of day.

That's the thing, I like him singing too but this just sounds lazy. And I loved albums like True Magic and The New Danger that many turned their noses up too

I'm glad he has decided to stop making muzik. This nikka owe me 15 bucks. He pulled that singing shyt at a concert in Richmond some years back. Go back to acting Mos.

Finally just finished checking out this album and yeah this album sounds so uninspired.

I don't even know what Yasiin is singing about half the time, it just seems like half written songs with some decent music.

No songs on here stand out at all. Just real bland and lazy.
