They trading Arod to save themselves money and not s sign players :beli: plus there is no big third base prospect Arod is blocking . They just making a cash grab and a chance to save some extra money.
I already pay a lot at Yankee stadium to get concessions Now they want to run out a cheaper team
And same prices

:comeon: my nikka idk if someone clarified it for you yet or not...but THAT is the qualm I have with this trade, they're not saving jack and getting rid of a quality (regular season) bat. According to the orig. article posted in the OP, the Yankees are offering to NOT ONLY take on the rest of Heath Bell's 3yr 27million contract, but are ALSO offering to pay the rest of A-Rod's ~$114million over the next 5 years.

There is no cash grabbing here. None. They will not put any smaller a payroll out there on the field if that's what you mean by "run out a cheaper team"; unless you meant to say, they're gonn' field a cheaper, inferior product, than I don't agree with you man.

...instead they're gonn' pay someone else on the FA market, they always do. I hear this big bat from the OF is gonn' be on the FA market this Winter who also happens to be a :cac: and I also speculate they won't pick up Grandy's $13million option, and that Swisher might be out; also considering the fact that Ichiro-san and Raul Ibanez are a combined ~101 years old, we have opening(s) in the OF...

:snoop:

:sigh: It's a gift and a curse to be a collective fan of the Yankees, Knicks and Jets. Man i'm 22 and I'mma start having chronic hypertension issues. Sometimes I fukking wonder man...why do I keep doing this to myself.

Oh I already said this trade was stupid on page one and wouldn't happen. I'm talking about in general just trading Arod if they only do it to try and save some of his salary , cause if they trade him for no reason that's just stupid. They have no prospects to play at third and won't be signing any free agents do I can't believe they trading Arod and getting salary if anything they will get pieces they can trade to lower salary still .
I don't care about this 189 mil payroll the Yankees still will charge me the same prices
I know you don't want to hear this but the Yankees are trying to get cheaper

:shake: still though, if you gonn' get rid of A-Rod, get something back in return...even if it's not having to pay the entirety of what remains on his contract

Yeah because our draft picks pan out.

They have.

And you can't bytch about the fact that they don't bring up prospects or develop them at the major league level and then be down with not having picks at all. Well then how do you expect to build a team? Cashman's at least been rebuilding our system after Connors and the goons cleared it out for names.

They're not signing Josh Hamilton breh. Give it 3 months and you'll find Josh under the 2/5 on Boston Road shivering during a heat wave

Nightengale: A-Rod likely a Bronx goner | Detroit Free Press | freep.com

The deal that makes the most sense is trading A-Rod to the Angels for outfielder Vernon Wells. The Angels don't want Wells, who has two years and $42 million remaining in his deal. They need a power-hitting third baseman, and want to make room in the outfield for free agent Torii Hunter, who has been offered only a one-year contract at a heavy pay cut from his $18 million salary, while seeking at least a two-year deal.

The Yankees would gladly take Wells for Rodriguez, but the problem, of course, will be money: How much will the Yankees have to kick in? Rodriguez has five years, $114 million remaining on his deal, and four general managers and executives say that Rodriguez is probably worth about $7 million to $10 million a year, and certainly not more than $12 million.

I will never say they won't sign somebody...even if it's a crack/meth head coming to chilly climates...Yankees have money to throw around and they always make a splash...esp. if SOO much non-Arod salary is slated to come off the books.

*insert lame splash-related pun here*

they're not trying to throw money around though. These next couple of years will be transitioning towards the new wave while trying to win now unless that player is a can't miss player on and off the field.

Whether the Yankees trade A-Rod or not, 85% of that salary will still be paid for by the team. They had to pay half just to get out of the last 2 years of AJ Burnett. What do you think they'll have to eat just to jettison A-Rod out of here?

So sick of A-Rod being made out to be the scapegoat here.

Harvey Anton NAILED IT with this article.

Real Yankee fans know that this is BIGGER than A-Rod. The article focuses on the bs coming upstairs from the Yankee brass.

Real Yankee fans like my boy got kicked out of the stadium last week for yelling "asssshooolllle" to the opposing team.

Real Yankee fans are being outpriced leaving the stadium half empty and opposing teams saying it's easy to play there now.

Real Yankee fans see Swisher batting 163 in the playoffs, Cano having 3 hits for the entire playoffs and Granderson striking out 15 times as the bigger problem.

Real Yankee fans know this is bigger than A-Rod and the guys upstairs are making A-Rod the scapegoat.

All true.

And yet, that contract and player are still the biggest andvil around the teams neck.

Lol maybe I'm not being clear . I want to keep Arod and I think the Yankees would be silly to try and get rid of him . There aren't many 3rd baseman that can replace him , cheaper sure but I don't care about cheaper cause the Yankees still charge top prices . So fukk them trying to embarrass Arod for their mistakes

:beli: don't fall for the hype. They have no plans to sign big free agents they are trying to cut payroll to avoid the new luxury tax. Fans don't want to hear about the Yankees trying to save money . Cause I damn sure don't want to see Nunez as my starting 3rd baseman or some retread cause they are cheap . Who does it benefit beside the Yankee brass

Agree with this. The difference is I think this can be true and a-rod DA INSUFFERABLE fakkit gawd can still be a big part of the problem.

This whole pity party for a-rod is a joke to me. The failings of all these other cats doesn't let a-rod's lame ass off the hook. He looks lame at the plate, and he's enough of an insufferable fakkit behind the scenes for the team to treat him like he's dipped in the ebola virus. I gives -943 fukks about him sitting on the bench. That said, I would've pinch hit him for Ibaniez vs. Coke the other night.

All this hate for Cashman I'm reading is comical. He made plenty of savvy decisions this season, and I'm not about to blame him for Pineda's shoulder being more unstable than an old school G.I. Joe toy.

I said it when they were 10 games up in the East, and I'll keep saying it: this is one of the least likeable team the Yanks have had in my lifetime. I'll take the Claudell Washington, Mike Pagliarulo, Mel Hall, Dennis Rasmussen squads over these for sheer watchability. There are several players on this team who inspire the :merchant::scusthov::stopitslime::what::ufdup: faces from me almost every time I see them at bat or in the field.

Jeter needs to ride off into the sunset while he's still a hero. I know he won't, because his ego is probably bigger than Prince Fielder's gut, but he really needs to call it a career while the getting's good.

I still love Robbie Cano, as inexcusable as his postseason has been.

CC is a boss. Our pen is cool with me. Raul cooked for us even when we refused to eat.

Andruw Jones, please take your fat ass to China and vogue battle Smush Parker.

Nick Swisher, hope you land in San Diego where the weather is so nice and the citizens are so dulled by the beautiful weather and the ultraconservative ethos that they'll never, ever jeer your bytch ass.

Noony, take 10,000 grounders a day and we can be good money.

Destroy and Rebuild time. It might take a few years to really have a revamped squad, but it has to start ASAP. The AL East will still be up for grabs next year regardless, because Boston is retooling, Baltimore had a fluke season, and Toronto is Toronto.

[Mel Yeah]GO YANKEES, DAMN IT![/]
