i'll admit i haven't done much research into ranked choice voting, but im not feeling it.

The main thing about ranked-choice voting is that it's the only way to guarantee that the #1 candidate is actually more favored than the #2 candidate without just reducing the race to 2 candidates.

If you have 3, 4, 5 candidates or more, then either you have to make sure no one votes for #3 and beyond, or you have ranked choice. All other options insure that a candidate with minority approval can actually win over a more popular candidate.

When he fails it won't be for lack of effort. It will be for for similar reasons as to why de Blasio won't be remembered well. He'll say anything and do anything to appease certain people except for those who need it the most. Don't try to be the hip, cool mayor. He'll just embarrass us.

The failure is also on the people of the city for not treating the primary like the real mayoral election that it was. Old minorities came out and made their choice and now we gotta live with it.

He will be DeBlasio 2.0. He will say the right things about police brutality and affordable housing but will do the opposite in action. He will let the NYPD do whatever they want because of rising crime. Young people in this city don’t vote enough so I better not hear them bytch and complain about Adams. You had a chance.

Crime isn’t rising in New York. It’s NYPD propaganda in response to the defund movement. DiBlasio revealed yesterday that NYC has less crime at this point in the year than it had last year.

And it’s another example of people not realizing that most people don’t vote on ideology. Only professional class people do really - if progressives want to win then they have to engage in the same identity politics a lot of people despise plus get young people to vote. Eric Adams won a lot of the same people that put Jamal Bowman in office. At the end of the day, people are going to vote for someone they have familiarity with over someone new promising gifts.

Bro this the shyt that I don’t wanna hear, if you wanna complain but not put any effort into making shyt change I don’t need to hear from you. Too many of my friends bytch all the time but won’t even do the minimum in voting. Especially since in the last years progressives have been getting elected more often in nyc.
