It was announced in 2021 that breaking would be included this year but before the Paris spectacle had even begun, it was also revealed that the sport would not feature in LA in four years' time - a major disappointment for breakers.
However, every host city is able to request several sports for its edition of the Olympics and LA opted against breaking. Instead, cricket, flag football, lacrosse, squash and baseball-softball will be part of the line-up.
The decision was confirmed by the LA 2028 organising committee with the new sports selected because they reflect community interests in the United States.
IOC president Thomas Bach said: 'The choice of these five new sports is in line with the American sports culture and will showcase iconic American sports to the world, while bringing international sports to the United States.

Everyone keeps highlighting the Australian lady who should not have been at the games. No one is talking about the men's competition and how many more dancers are going to try and make it for next time.
