Actually let me give you a quick example

So my car has this problem where the dipstick funnel is broken and it's leaking oil. Common problem among VW Passats B5s. Anyway i take it to this shop just to get an oil change because with the leak and the oil leaking there is no way to tell how much oil is in there so to be safe i stopped at one of those oil change places and decided id replace the drain plug and change the oil just to be on the safe side since it's cheap (i usually change my own oil)

I walk in there and explain what i wanted done and WHY I wanted it done. The lower level techs refer me to the "master technician" who is all the suddentrying to sell me all this bullshyt about what I should do.

It's a chick.

Now i look at her like

All the sudden she storms away and another tech comes in trying to talk to me. Apparently they thought I dismissed what she said because she was a woman trying to tell me about cars. Her own coworkers are there talking to me about "yeah that dyke knows what she talking about" as if the fact that she's a woman let alone a "dyke" ever even crossed my mind as a factor to NOT take her advice. When they referred me to her as their "Master Tech" in no way did i discount her knowledge since she seems to know what she was talking about but she was giving me doomsday scenarios of the situation when I know i'm taking precautions with the calculated risk that I am taking.
I'm an engineer myself and the brightest engineer ive ever worked with was a woman. I learned a lot from her. But these fools that we there were quick to jump to conclusions thinking that I'm some sexist b*stard like them and that was why I was not taking her suggestions into consideration.

Same thing here. You seeing a white man dismiss a black man chanllenging him an in arguement are too quick to look for that racist line that may or may not be there.

I dont discount racism. But it's just not my first thought when dealing with someone of another race.
