People have short attention spans nowadays. Shows break it up in 30 or 60 minute blocks. Some people might binge for hours but they always have that break between episodes where they can stop.

Once you commit to that 2 or 3 hour movie though... :francis:

YouTube videos over 20 min? :camby:

You know how many IG posts you can look at in 3 hours? :heh:

Thrillers mostly, because the endings and the story lines are jagged enough where you don’t always see the “typical” ending.

a lot of movies/shows out there are very cyclical with their stories but I find thrillers and mysteries and some drama typically manage to escape the redundancy other genres possess

Marcella - series
Dark - series
In the shadow of the moon - movie
Perdida - movie
Perfume - series
The Stranger

Cause most movies are trash nowdays.
They're not taking risk with movies, they're no new movie stars that make you want to watch just for them, shows can tell a more intriguing, drawn out and detailed story. Shows can get their whole 1st season run,no problem since streaming gon give you 10 eps no matter what, the threat of getting cancelled midseason is done so I thinknthe better writers are going tv deals.
Shows are just better than movies.

Overall, TV series has been taking a healthy dump on films for over 10 yrs now. There have been a plethora of dope TV series the last 10 years...can't say the same for films overall.

Netflix and Hulu have the most trash selection in films. It’s offensive.

When tv with no commercials was introduced on a massive scale, there was no need for in between films. Prolly why superhero flix took over.

Seinfeld and family guy with no commercials is wild. They really feel like your ppls.

It has to be some kind of conspiracy as to why advertisements are so bad, from tv to radio.

Radio ads seem like they’ll fire a dude if his voice aint annoying and abrasive enough.

Tv commercials be loud af with the worst music they can find.

It’s a relief when a movie trailer comes on

Tv feels like chillin wit your friends. Moreso sitcoms. I don’t watch shows like breaking bad, power, or got. They’re terrible to me. Stop being lazy and find you a good movie.

Sitcoms are just better than movies, cause movies make u get to kno a character and just murk em off after 40 minutes in the most dramatic fashion. Breh jus falls out the top floor and gets hit by a car n they just keep it pushin after. It be too much sometimes. I mean if I drove a few miles and bought some pop corn for my shorty and me, I’m with it.

But I’m not tryna watch a dude get murked in fronna his mom while I’m workin on a couple hot pockets. :francis:

I do agree this past decade it's been more fun to watch TV than movies.

but if/when the TV(and movie) well dries up due to corona it'll be nice to catch up on some older films.

That's not the actor's (or actresses) fault, that's how Hollywood works now. Most people watch for franchises, not movie stars.

And there are movies that take risks; you just have to look (and pay) for them on demand. They're out there.

it's how it works but an actor still has to have some type of personality or charisma that makes you want to watch them in a role and I can't think of any. aint nobody pre 2010 headlining flicks and when they try they flop.
for shyts and giggles name the 5 biggest actors today along with their biggest movie

That's what I'm trying to tell you, that's not how the system works anymore. People don't go to movies to watch Robert Downey Jr. and Ryan Reynolds, they go to watch Ironman and Deadpool because that's how those movies are marketed. No longer are movies advertised as "Daniel Craig is James Bond", it's just marketed as the new James Bond movie.

There used to be systems or structures in place in Hollywood to help Jude Law or Jennifer Lawrence become the next big movie star. They're still there, but in diminished capacity because that not how it works anymore. Now to be a movie star you just gotta find a profitable franchise and then use that to help you choose the roles you want.

For me tv shows are able to fully flesh out stories better...this isnt all the time but its easier to tell a story in 40 1-hour episodes than it is to tell a story in 2 hours.
