Really dislike how such an important aspect of our culture is being erased or mishandled while certain people don't give a fukk. I get that black men aren't the only men who bond at a shop but still....the black barbershop matters. Four years ago we had threads where we all recognized this, coming out of quarantines. I went months being unable to get a cut or see my barber. By the time I got back in there it felt like a holiday. And I've had a blast each time I've gone since then.
But my barber is an older guy, who I've been going to since high school. He raised his prices $5 after the shutdowns. Went from $15 to $20. No big deal. When he's on vacation and I have to go to other shops the cost is twice as high, there is zero community aspect, and it's a bunch of young barbers with the social skills of a monk. This shyt is dying.
