Maybe I have to play this because I just don't see what's so exciting about this game. All I see is big empty lands with a zoomed out camera and little to no npc's or story.

The pedigree of the Xeno series is always huge epic stories. There's only been one story related trailer for this game. They've focused on showing off the world and exploration aspects of the game so far but if you haven't played Xenoblade I could get why you aren't hyped for this game but I suspect this game will be one of the greatest JRPGs of this generation like Xenoblade pretty much was the best JRPG of last generation.

The Xenoblade series is one that has story but at the same time a very explorable world.

You have to play the first Xenoblade for Wii. Seriously. Its an amazing game.
