The only reason I even have to own a sony console each generation is because the best japanese games are usually only on that system....

If MS acquired some classics like them anime games....that would be fantastic....them getting Nier is hopefully a good sign of more to come.

The reason why a lot of those mid/upper Japanese games are PS exclusive or multi with Switch or PC is because Xbox owners don't buy them.

You didn't buy Tales of Vesperia,Lost Oddysey,Blue Dragon,Star Ocean 4, Infinite Undiscovery,etc...

You only buy the big big shyt like Final Fantasy and Tekken and even then it sells overwhelmingly better on PS.

Thats not it at all, the market just isn't big enough. And Japan doesn't support it at all... they barely supported the xbox 360 and that was mostly because it was a dev system for them with it being so much more easy to develop on and then port to ps3.

In a vacuum, 36 million is a lot. In 2010 360 sold 40 mil 5 years after it launched.

5 years after the PS4 launch, it has surpassed 86 million. That's almost triple the amount of sales.

I guess there was just 3 times more people who simply didn't give a crap about playing NFL 2k5 in 4K again.

Nope. Plenty of consumer electronics manufacturers don’t give exact sales figures.

Profit isn’t made in console sales, Microsoft and Sony make very little money off each console sold. They make their money in sales and services, therefore it makes more sense to talk about player engagement than individual console sales. Sony is in the lead so they shout their console sales numbers from the rooftops, but investors are still more concerned with the amount of users actively spending money on the service. Microsoft has been very clear in the fact that “Xbox” is making more money than it’s ever made.
