As someone who wasnt a 'comic book' fan and is unaware of most source material, DOFP is one of the best comic book movies I've seen.

I remember one of my guys asking me to come see it with them and didnt take much notice of it beforehand. Saw it got really good reviews, but so did other comic movies at the time that i watched and didnt think were as deserving of their praise. Either way i went and saw it and got really invested in the story. So invested that an hour in, there werent even much action but was still enjoying it more than most other comic book films.

Long story short, i became a fan of comic book movies overnight after this and I know there are lots who dislike it for various reasons, but it is the best in the series imo.

NOTE - Prior to watching it, X-Men 3 was the only X-men film i had seen all the way through

Fox has a lot valid criticism for how they handled X-Men and other Marvel properties but DOFP was every bit as good as Iron Man 1, WS, Civil War or Avengers. It was spectacular really even with the liberties taken.

How they botched Apocalypse and FF is :mindblown:

For me, it falls in line with most X-Men movies: not horrible, but completely forgettable and something I don't care to ever see again. Fox/Singer fukked up the X-Men from the first movie and the series never improved.

I can respect that point of view. In fact that drove me insane (still does). Dark Phoenix will be trash. They still never came close to using X-Men full potential. Hopefully Disney fixes that.

I have never figured out what was the fear of using the original X-Men. And the black suits were unacceptable.

They certainly had a "sameness" to them that felt routine. Same cast, same Magneto/Charles shyt.

I give X2, DOFP, Logan, The Wolverine and Deadpool credit for attempting to branch out of that zone.

Yeah like everyone said Apocalypse was a let down. Everything was set up perfectly. The X-Men deserve better.

They should of had Magneto set up the brotherhood of mutants. Mystique should have died. Quicksilver should have joined his magneto. Charles should have removed Jean's mental blocks to unleash the Phoenix and her struggle to control it would have been depicted in a future movie.

Also how did Mystique know Wolverine was in the water? :ohhh:
