X-Men: Dark Phoenix Official Thread (2018)

X-Men: The Last Stand gets a lot of unjust hate. It was action packed, had great fight scenes, and had some good special effects for Jean’s “Dark Phoenix” look. My only gripe was Cyclops/Professor X’s deaths were dumb. Magneto picking up the Golden Gate Bridge was a great scene n display of power you like to see as a comic book fan in a comic book movie.

X3 had major issues
1.the way they killed cyclopse
2. Juggernaut was horrible
3.the final act

I did like X-2 when it first came out and it's tolerable if i'm forced to watch it but if by choice, would not choose to watch it again.

Can't fukk with those Singer Xmovies really except for DOTFP in part because Fassbender as Magneto is so good.

Those Singer movies just look like the actors just got molested before every scene they look lifeless as hell.

Case in point.

X2 was on F/X like 3 weeks ago.

They have aged terribly.

Her acting was trash. Her last movie made me realise that even though GOT is on HBO. It's still TV, she's clearly a tv level actress only. Not built for movie's.
It's like having Topher Grace on the big screen. Yeah i liked that 70's show. but there is a clear difference between starring in a sitcom and starring in big budget films.
She can play side character's fine. but she shouldn't be the leading actress. Only people like Will Smith can make that type of leap from the small screen to the big screen.

You mean the guy from traffic and blackklansman? That guy is solid I’m confused, he’s never been the face of any big budget movie. Regardless Sansa is trash

I think the main knock against this movie should be that they’ve done this story line already with the same writer and it turned out just ok imo. Certainly not something I'd uphold against the best in the genre tho.

I thought apocalypse was cool but I don't really have any interest in this. For the reasons I stated above.

That's not good argument to make for this genre. Comicbooks are meant to be serialized entertainment. A standalone doesn't actually do justice to nature of this art form.

A good movie does justice to the art form.

Most people watching these movies aren't comic book readers.

It would be different if it were like a Shazam!, Wonder Woman, or Aquaman as a stand alone not tied to a universe and was just a quality very good flick.

You really trust the folks who botched fukking APOCALYPSE!?!

It's not like FOX has never made a good Marvel movie.
MCU made the first 2 Thor movies, 1st Hulk movie (I kinda liked it myself ), and Ironman 3.

In other words, MCU didn't knock every movie out of the park.

Same goes with Fox. Apocalypse was a letdown.


But X1, X2, First Class, DOFP, Logan, and the two Deadpool movies? Great/good movies. Logan was a classic.


Shoot, the 1st 2 wolverine movies were trash to average. Who saw Logan coming?

Willing to give this new movie a chance.

My number one chief complaint with Fox has been and always will be the constant focus on Wolverine and not expanding their characters in the movies they told.

There's more than Charles, Magneto, Mystique and Logan.

I don't mind the focus on Wolverine, he is the most popular X-men character and the fan favorite since even before the movies. But, i agree they should've given other people more shine. Not all the X-men movies needed to be team-ups. Could've done solo projects for any number of characters. Constantly using Magneto and Mystique as the antagonist got old and they never were that inspiring with any other villians, despite how deep the x-mens rogue's gallery is. Plus nobody looking like their comicbook counter parts always bothered me. If Captain America & Spiderman can wear comic accurate costumes anyone can. Imagine how lame Iron Man would be if he just wore black leather suit instead of the red and gold?
When they are rebooted i hope Disney treats the X-men teamup movies like they did with the avengers movie, spread them out with various solo's in between each one.
