That is the same thing I was thinking when I saw the trailer. Like how does the animation look worse than the animation for season 5 of the original.

Same reason most anime looks like ass nowadays compared to Akira and even old episodes of DBZ. Studios wanna be cheap and outsource and cgi everything.
