i remember when Cryme Tyme was generating some steam and they never pulled the trigger, they were even riding along WWE Champion John Cena in the main event

same exact thing was going on with the Usos, they were building steam for like 2-3 months and riding along Daniel Bryan and everyone was waiting for them to finally win the big payoff match for that giant victory pop

instead its giving to 2 cacs in goldust and cody

Shelton repeatedly got some of the largest pops and fans universally love him. If you never get that big pay off win then there is no opportunity to "get over" in the general sense.

Cena is a mediocre wrestler at best but got win after win after win starting from his first rumble win to the point where he's "over" to the casual fan. Outside of Rock I can't think of a black wrestler that has got that chance. Uso's, Booker T, Cryme Tyme, etc. get to that point but never get a big payoff feud-ending win like we just saw the Rhodes do.
