To clarify, the WWE audience didn't perceive the Rock as a Black athlete. And I think Rock influenced Vince to add Owen Hart to the Nation in order to distance himself form the "Black stable".
Rock is a Black man, but his WWE branding was distinct from every other character that is ostensibly Black identified as Black.

Let's think back almost 7 years ago to the presidential election: White liberals were claiming that Obama wasn't "only" or "merely" Black, that he was also "White". On progressive radio they said, "Why can't we call him the first multi-racial president?" "Why does it even matter that he had a Black father. He had a White mother."
If race-logic made sense, racists would have nothing to do.

This shyt is insane..Halle Berry is Black despite having a White mother and everyone has to see her as Black..that's what Hollywood sees her as. Alicia Keys is Black..Italian mother or not.
