I mean, if you're not already subscribed for War Games and Survivor Series how likely is it a House Show is going to seal the deal? Still, they're clearly mad for people not wanting to waste 20 dollars on Joe-Lesnar and Braun-Brock. That's what happens when people know your WrestleMania plans a year out.

I wonder how much cheaper it is airing house shows on the network vs ppvs.

411MANIA | WWE Not Airing Starrcade on WWE Network For Financial Reasons

WWE’s decision not to air Starrcade on the WWE Network boils down to financial reasons, according to a new report. Wrestling Observer Radio reports that WWE executives view the idea of airing the special WWE live event fron Greensboro, North Carolina as an expense that is unnecessary, as it won’t bring them any additional benefit.

According to the site, executives believe that the Starrcade show won’t help the company increase their subscribers or have any other financial benefits, and the expense of streaming the show would be unnecessary. WWE has several big names already lined up, which is expected to help boost ticket and merchandise sales for the show.

The live show takes place on November 25th in Greensboro. The card is as follows:

* WWE Championship Steel Cage Match: Jinder Mahal vs. Shinsuke Nakamura
* Smackdown Women’s Championship Steel Cage Match: Natalya vs. Charlotte Flair
* United States Championship Triple Threat Match: AJ Styles vs. Baron Corbin vs. Rusev
* Smackdown Tag Team Championship Texas Tornado Match: The New Day vs. The Usos
* Sami Zayn vs. Kevin Owens
* Bobby Roode vs. Dolph Ziggler
* Luke Gallows & Karl Anderson vs. The Rock ‘n’ Roll Express
* Breezango vs. Aiden English and Mike Kanellis

Like WCW, make boneheaded decisions because of financial reasons:wow:

can't afford to shoot a houseshow or have piro
but them financial reports tho :mjpls:

Well they didn't say they couldn't afford it, it just doesn't make financial sense. Its smart though, they are gonna start a trend of promoting house shows similar to Starrcade, to get people going to the shows. Putting this on the Network would defeat the purpose, and people would just watch it at home. House show sales must be slipping for them to be promoting "Starrcade"

My UK brehs can confirm its similar to UK not broadcasting all PL games in the UK because they want them to go stadium and purchases tickets rather than sitting at home and watching it there.

Besides the fukking name, its a regular house show brehs.

I guess it's appropriate they call this Starrcade because they are running this like it is the 1980s before PPVs got really big and holiday weekend house shows were a major thing that could make or break the year. Not sure what the value is on doing a specially marketed house show in 2017. It's not like they are in a stadium or in L.A. or NYC with this. Zero reason for this not to be a TV event (live or taped). Damn, forget doing it live and just tape it and release it on Christmas Day on the Network if that'll save a few bucks.

If you want to appeal to old school fans (which is obviously why bothered dusting off the name and are holding it in NWA/WCW territory), put it on the Network so they can all see it. They'd probably pick up a few extra subscriptions, and they'd be adding new original content anyway.

Pushing 50 year olds and getting tight on the budget... we really are watching them morph into WCW.
