Supposedly Jacobs took a break not to long ago and that pissed off WWE or something.
This whole pic thing was just a good excuse to let him go.
Can't say I'm surprised...WWE is hella shook about any shred of competition.
NJPW is not competition. NJPW has never been competition. NJPW will never be competition. WWE is a public, global, world wide touring and syndicated company that made $729M in revenue for 2016. NJPW is a privately owned by a game company, that runs only in Japan outside of a special event this year and co-branded shows that really is just the other promotion using their talent and eating the costs and had $32M in revenue in 2016.
NJPW being the second biggest promotion in the world doesn't mean they are competition to WWE. For instance, KOPW 2017 and Sakura Genesis were held in the same building as where WWE runs house shows in Japan. NJPW only draws about 1000-1500 more in the same venue for huge events like Okada vs Shibata than WWE running a card with Nakamura and Jinder. That's in their home market, in one of their strongest venues. New Beginning, headlined by their biggest draw Naito against the second most popular heavyweight gaijin, along with Takahashi vs Dragon Lee, and Ospreay vs Shibata, drew less than 1000 more than a WWE house show headlined again by Jinder/Nakamura.
They are not competitors. They are two companies in the same industry, in the same way that Apple and gas stations both sell cell phones.
