A decade ago I wouldn't have even entertained the idea of aj styles going the wwe. It was almost as surreal as sting wrestling on Monday night raw.

Thought his first match was ok. For some reason Aj kept reminding me of justin Gabriel.

Wwe and their warped narratives be having me weak tho. Like Aj haven't competed against some of the biggest names in the industry and isn't already arguably the best wrestler of his peer group.:mjlol:

yea my favorite thing about wrestling is seeing wrestlers jump to different promotions.

but the wwe is always corny about it. always ruins it for me.

plus i dont like what wwe is doing, trying to create another monopoly.

Yeah this is what I feel like the wwe is tryna do. Taking the best talent from the other companies to starve them out. I don't believe it's good in the long run for the landscape of wrestling. Also wwe`s track record ain't the best when it comes to wrestlers with name value outside of the wwe.

All the wwe is offering a contract the talent can turn it down . Did wwe make AJ say this is where I always should of been last night ? I doubt it

What caused that? :lupe:

I remember they even featured RoH footage of matches on WWE DVDs (CM Punks)

Was it just RoH's willingness to not roll over and die when the 'E tried to prevent indie shows from happening Mania weekend and scooping up indie stars? Was it the Steen action figure? (which 'E ended up releasing first after all) :patrice:

i think the difference is a wrestler would work one territory at a time.

and they were more regionally based of course.
Still don't get it breh, one territory at a time? Say a dude was short on cash he could easilly do ovw and travel to Texas to get more experience/ring time in Booker T's wrestling org too, no?

im guessing on that 'one territory at a time' thing. i didnt live thru that era. but ive never heard of anybody working for multiple promotions simultaneously back then. im sure the pay was better. most of those territories were boomin. they werent "minor leagues" like theyre made out to be in hindsight. not at all.

theres more money going indy - if you have a name at least, than it is in OVW.

if i was a wrestler, i wouldnt mess with the wwe system. most of the wrestlers that come thru their system are trash.

i dont know much about booker t's org.

Out of touch, they think that If they acknowledge the other company it going to give them a rub and fans will turn to the other companies, but that's dumb since no other company has a tv show on Monday, also its dumb cause 50% of their fanbase is fans of wrestling not just the wwe so its like if the nfl never mentioned the ncaa or acknowledge the Heisman winner on some that was the amatuers so it doesn't count..

In the territory days you only got to see the promotion that was in your area, there was no cable so you couldn't change the channel to see Mid south if you lived in NY.. So if Dusty Rhodes never went to work for NWA you probably would have never heard of him.. That mentality is dumb now cause we all have the internet so they should just let the wrestler have his gimmick and all of their signature moves and they should acknowledge where they came from cause most of us know anyway
