Definitely not a money issue. My girl offered to snag it for me because she knows they're usually a first day thing for me. And I passed. I bought every game in the series, the vast majority of which I snagged on the first day. I told myself after 2K18 that this was the last one i'd snag on the first day until I see them noticeably tighten the game up.
I Gamefly'd the game, and played a ton of it and just felt like it was better in ways (love that Triple Threat Tag stuff is back in, I dig some of the Paybacks), but overall just not necessary to run out and buy. This remains a game where inexplicable limitations and glitches exist. And then they patch those things, break something else, and the rest of the patches until the DLC runs out are a mixed bag of fixes and breaks.
From what i'm reading, that process is repeating. And personally i'm just not okay with that anymore. I sat thru going on 20 years of removing stuff, then putting that stuff back, removing more stuff, putting that back, odd ass limitations and moreso in this current gen, patches that the community has to playtest for new things to patch.
Don't get me wrong, there's definitely still fun to be had. I think the gameplay when everything is working can be really fun. But its like buying a dope couch with a nail sticking up out of the cushion, and an uneven leg. Sometimes its still nice, but to pay full price for it is to accept bad craftsmanship.
