Under scenario 1, no. The name I wouldn't be surprised to hear near the deadline is Demarcus Cousins. There's been reported interest by the front office for a couple of seasons, if he shows naked ass in Rio I could see them dangling Whiteside and filler. And that wouldn't be an indictment on Hassan not being a good player it could just be they might think Cousins is closer to putting them over the top. Derrick Williams, Rodney McGruder, and James Johnson are better as key signings. Or Luke Babbit? Wayne Ellington?
We gave Waiters two years with the ability to opt in even if he sucks and we can't move him. Dude has butted heads and is, by all accounts, a negative locker room presence.
Besides, when we win 35 games, I'd rather laugh at you over you being gone.
The key signings were the guys they paid the most money to; Whiteside and TJ, and then the underrated pickup was Willie Reed. It's like something is going over your head. We didnt lose Wade and Deng to "give" Derrick Williams and James Johnson a chance. Those were the caliber players we were going after anyway. Now if Wade had decided sooner then who knows maybe Deng is back into the mix but what's done is done and this is the roster we have.

I like our core of hassan winslow rich and johnson. Honestly the rest of these nikkas except maybe dragic are all fodder at this point for riley and co to figure out what pieces fit with this group moving forward.
Maybe westbrook next year or one of our youngins breaknout and we spend it elsewhere. Bottomline the durant move forced us into an instant rebuild year so lets do it

If we were gonna go after shytty player and tank the season then I'd prefer keeping Wade to mentor our youngins over bringing in Dion Waiters and James Johnson.
The shyttiness of our acquisitions is heightened because we also lost Wade, one of our prime pitches for Miami Heat culture in Heat Lifer, and the most versatile player we have.
But please, tell me how Derrick Williams, Wayne Ellington, Rodney McGruder, James Johnson, and Dion Waiters are positive additions to a competitive and playoff bound team (In your opinion). Oh, let's not forget talent like Luke Babbit and Briante Weber!
