That shyt served its purpose at the time. Its easy to knock it looking back but it gave people some positivity in life. :manny:

it was a great time for hip-hop. dudes were trying to up their vocabulary and shyt. they made some great points in the interview about how people would hear all these 'esoteric' references in a song, and want to find out what it all meant. I know that was the case for me as a listener

good shyt

there's an elephant in the room there. and that's the 5% teachings. part of the Lessons 120 was memorizing things like the weight of the earth, distance to the sun, the area of the Indian Ocean, etc. the idea was that if you were 'god of the universe' you should know something (everything) about it

I'm not a fan of the jive percenters racial theories. but they did have a focus on acquiring 'knowledge', reading books, and many things that I did find positive. and I'm sure it did inspire a lot of people to pursue (mainstream) science

yeah, i think 5 percenters is part of the reason rap didnt end up like reaggeaton or disco, at least in the 80s and 90's, in 2012 rap and reaggeaton are about at the same level tho :noah:

These cats are fruity as hell. Damn Gza. You gotta get in league with funboys to spit science.

Yea, it was cray how sweet these dudes were. I guess even in the science field you have to dumb down the masculinity to be respected. Cats lookin like straight up funboys. Gza playing himself to stay relevant but hopefully by using these funboys he can get some real men to step up and get interested in science. Its hard to get into a subject when your teacher looks like a funboy.

Leave it to you to focus on the appearance and mannerisms of the men in the video rather than the substance. You're obsessed with men.

:lolbron: It was strikingly obvious that GZA was hanging out with funboys. Very bad for his image to be seen with these types of people. He should dissassociate himself from this project completely and just release some dark matter albums.

You know these funboys said his name out loud and couldnt Wait to work with him. :heh:

:ohhh: you think if GZA could ghost write for somebody "like" soulja boy, a hip-hop "enlightenment" amongst, "mainstream" rap might occur.

nope. Nobody's tryna hear that shyt and never will.

Maybe in a completely different society. A technocracy :bueno::bueno:
