The only dope album they dropped in the last 15 years

Firstly, album came out in 2000 so it has been 17 years.

Secondly, Supreme Clientele (classic) came out that same year.

Thirdly, since then we have had Cuban Linx II (2009) and FishScale (2006) as notably great Wu releases. Even some on a lesser scale of greatness like Masta Killa's No Said Date (2004), some Ghost solos etc. They've released dope stuff since.

Felt underwhelming when it came out but lowkey might be the Wu album I listen to the most...the dark feeling it has really works for me

That's what I'm saying. The dark tones of the album really held up compared to their other albums, especially Wu Tang Forever (which will always be my favorite Wu album).

I think it was truly the last time everyone was in sync.

To me its no less than 4.5 mics. Some of my fav all time wu songs like hollow bones, careful, i cant goto sleep.

The dark raggae vibe rza took was crazy.

And imo. Rzas run of (SC, the w, ghost dog) is prolly his best imo. He was at top form on these releases.

Yep...also the cohesiveness of it all, except for Gravel Pit...really feels like a full grimy/dusty project

:jbhmm:Gravel Pit in itself was technically grimey on the level of how 80s hip hop tracks went down. Sure it was polished compared to all of the tracks on the album, but the shyt reminded me of some Busy Bee switching turntables rapping in the basement shyt.

The video honestly tarnished such a dope track within itself with the Flintstone bullshyt.

the real hiphop.
Listened to it a few days ago and while it is clearly much better than all later Clan albums (especially last 2 ones) it lacks something. I can't put words into what it is because I don't know what that is.

Very listenable and with some great tracks here and there.

Edit:
Careful (Click Click) is a fukking dope posse cut.

last time the Wu really mattered...

album is fire front to back but its still missing something.

What was missing was the good songs on 'Iron Flag' should have replaced the weaker songs on 'The W'

'in the hood' should have replaced 'chamber music'

'dashing' should have replaced 'one blood'

'Ya'll been warned' should have replaced 'thang thang'

'radiocative' should have replaced 'gravel pit'

'uzi' and 'iron flag' should have replaced "clap"
