RZA is the Abbot. Thats why.

Not saying its right that he didn’t get “fair share” of the blame but that nikka took NINE other men out of the projects and made them millionaires. If anyone gets a pass its RZA.

breh you preachin to the choir AND my point still stands

cilvaringz just a producer, rza is the abbot

the way yall talk about cilvaringz is like he poisoned rza or put some magic spell on him

he prod the album, rza EXECUTIVE

Schooling people takes forever; don't bother
songs used to randomly leak for free or for the spirit of the culture keeping hip hop alive back when mixtapes used to make compilations or HHDX still posted exclusive music instead of gossip all the time

people have always gatekept music, but this album's price tag for 2m along with shkreli buying the unreleased carter V for 1m at the time started the underground trying to sell songs illegitimately for profit :francis:, even if it's mid but has exclusive name familiarity either in the song title or artist

yeah we may get some leaks quicker given a price, but gatekeeping among certain circles is at an all time high, where certain tracks that would have leaked naturally for the culture are now being vaulted and monetized, and compilation mixtape distribution were killed off in the process, which killed off a part of hip hop being accessible to the masses. yeah, the mixtape tags would have been eliminated but fewer people nowadays wouldn't have even heard the leaks outside of the rumor mill if they don't have access to the right circles

The only reason we don't have this album is because he sold RZA on the idea way back when.. Coulda just put the shyt out as a regular release, but his piece of the pie from the sale is much larger than if he was just getting album sale royalties.

I hear you trust me I do. But let's be realistic. The last official Wu Tang album which dropped a year prior not only flopped on the charts but went under the radar. Dude was talking about all this money he spent for years and if he would have just 'put it out' as a Civilringz album it would have super flopped. Look at the numbers the Mathematics/Wu Tang album did. I could understand dude wanting to get his money back. At least, doing it the way they did they made the album stand out as something special. We acknowledge that album more then the other Wutang albums that dropped in the 2010s and we haven't even heard it. The "art" angle was bullshyt yes but still, the mystic of not hearing it gives it a special appeal as if it makes one say "I need to hear it" as if it could be on your bucket list to one-day hear it like one day seeing a unique piece of art. But if Civilringz would have just put it out, the album would've came and went and wouldn't stand out like it currently does.

I'm willing to accept the concept of this and why we'll never be able to just purchase it but if it's art meant to be shared with people...how come it's never displayed in the US unless at some exclusive rich person event? How come it's either that or overseas. You'd think they would be doing events at local libraries in New York so regular people could hear it or something...
Because the person that owns it did not want to do so. And that's really what it comes down to. Hell, this 3rd or 4th owner is probably on some "I need to get some of my money back", so I'm gonna milk the exclusivity angle and charge it up.

More like a year.

Mef called this a "glorified bootleg". Rae and Ghost have an issue with it too.

So I don’t see how any day one Wu fans can support a project that was made without the consent of the collective as a whole, and was basically pieced together just to monetize it and escalate the value. Sh*t is beyond corny. RZA was wildin'.

One of those frustrating things ever. Rza really was out of his mind with this one.
He was of very sound mind. It was a shameless money grab which he knew he could to pull off due to mindless stannery that follows the Wu. Kudos to him and Ringz.
