United States Sells Unique Wu-Tang Clan Album Forfeited by Convicted Hedge Fund Manager Martin Shkreli

Earlier today, the United States sold the sole copy of the Wu-Tang Clan album “Once Upon a Time in Shaolin” (the “Album”) which had previously been ordered to be forfeited as a substitute asset in connection with the approximately $7.4 million forfeiture money judgment (Forfeiture Money Judgment) entered against Shkreli at his March 2018 sentencing. Proceeds from the sale of the Album will be applied to satisfy the outstanding balance owed on the Forfeiture Money Judgment. The contract of sale contains a confidentiality provision that protects information relating to the buyer and price.

Jacquelyn M. Kasulis, Acting United States Attorney for the Eastern District of New York, announced the sale of the Album.

U.S. Government Sells Martin Shkreli’s Wu-Tang Clan Album to Unknown Buyer

Today, the United States Government sold the sole copy of Wu-Tang Clan’s Once Upon a Time in Shaolin to an undisclosed buyer for an undisclosed sum, according to a press release from the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of New York. According to the office, the contract for the sale “contains a confidentiality provision that protects information relating to the buyer and price.” Proceeds from the sale will go toward satisfying an outstanding $7.36 million judgment levied against the previous owner, disgraced pharma executive Martin Shkreli.

Hopefully this person will leak it one day.

He know that shyt made him look bad. Looked like he wanted to curl up and crawl underneath a couch when the rest of the Wu members was shyttin on it in that Wu documentary Of Mics and Men.

Yep Rza's my guy but he got played. Wanted to make a point about art and value yet forgot to do his due diligence and sold it to some racist cac brat who used it as a weedplate.

it was cilvaringz not rza...but at the end of the day rza didnt want to throw the snake under the bus. He let dude market the cut and paste album as a real genuine wu album with all sorts of classic verses but the reality is what cilvaringz did was the same shyt mathematics and the chamber music cat were doing with the mail in verses. What makes us think that cilvaringz did a better job than than they did? It was mostly marketing and the whole 1 of 1 concept that made more publicity than what the actual music was. Did we hear any ground breaking snippets? Cuz the shyt i heard from ringz on youtube was mid compared to what math dropped...

Now, the New York Times has revealed that the new owner of Once Upon A Time In Shaolin is the crypto group PleasrDAO, which paid $4 million in cryptocurrency, via an intermediary, for the privilege. An NFT (what else?) acts as the ownership deed for the physical record. Despite being around for less than a year, PleasrDAO has also claimed ownership of NFTs related to Doge and Ed Snowden, and reportedly counts p*ssy Riot’s Nadya Tolokonnikova among its members.

The government sold “Once Upon a Time in Shaolin” to satisfy a judgment against its first owner, Martin Shkreli. It ended up with a collective called PleasrDAO that paid an intermediary $4 million.
