In the Silver Lining
1) 3 Group Album
2) 1st Single off this 3rd Group Album
3) First album in the 21st century

4) Method hits the elevator and says "2,000 BC", when the door opens the words on screen say "2,000,000" Years ago
5) Sexy women in Flintstone outfits. Half the group are in fur coats.
6) Dinosaurs: Pterodactyls and T-Rexes
7) Method starts off this party type track, followed by Ghost and U-God
8) U-God hits a woman across the head with a bat (literal caveman dating tactics)....feminists would have stopped the video if it was put out today
9) Ninjas....with Bokeem Woodbine as the leader

10) Ninja gets eaten by Dinosaur.

I understand they were trying to evolve as a group and with the music of the time. I'm neutral on the song, but the video is all :russ:

What yall think :lupe: :patrice: :jbhmm:

Alot of people hated on it but I actually like the song. Some dope performances by the members on there. RZA said that the group members initially hated the track also but it turned out to be one of their biggest international hits. They perform it basically at all of their group shows and it gets big love from the crowds. I like the video just because it had my b!tch Tamala Jones in it.

Edit: You posted the wrong video, breh.

Gravel Pit was the second single. Jump Off was the first. (Also Meth saying 2000 BC was a joke)

I think it works better in context of the three videos being connected by the "time travel elevator" thing but it's still a wacky concept.

Jump Off is the straight forward, rhyme in the camera at a venue type vid with a throwback theme (although the video version lacks the beat switch).

Gravel Pit is the over the top wild high-production number.

and then Careful doesn't even start w/ the elevator concept anymore and goes straight into a shootout at a mix of the modern day club, the 88 throwback & the elevator for whatever reason.

It's a messy weird concept all around and none of them are Wu's best videos, but they kind of balance each other's oddness out when viewed all together. My guess is the each version was a section of the crews idea on what type of video they wanted (I could easily see RZA pushing GP's concept) and doing all three was kind of a compromise across the board.

To be a completest, I Can't Go To Sleep kind of brought everything back to Earth with a kinda regular music video (although Wu in PJs and nightcaps & Ghost crying with mouthfuls of cereal and "regular music video" don't really equate). Love this one.

But, back to it, the silliness of the Gravel Pit video actually took me out of just enjoying the song itself for a while, but it still knocks, especially w/ Ghost's flow.

The W itself was always a step-back for the Wu lyrically but an amazingly produced album with it's dark tone and RZA pushing all the drums to the forefront of the beats instead of laying underneath the music. Such a unique & creative sounding album.

can't lie, this was the song that i'd go :stopitslime: and bring up when my older cousin used to try and convince about how good the Wu were.

he eventually educated me.

didn't like it but...Ghostface floated on that to the point to the point they had to take an interval before they played the rest of the song.

For some reason Wu doesn't get the credit they deserve for their group album efforts. Their first 3 consists of 2 classics (36 Chambers and Forever) and 1 really, really dope, near classic (The W). That's good considering they only have 6 albums, and the other 3 albums having some high points also. I guess alot of people were expecting a classic everytime out because they have an all time great producer and also several legendary, talented MCs (Ghost, Rae, Meth, GZA, Deck).
