Think the song he's talking about is just called "Babies" but its on Iron Flag and was one of the better cuts on there. GZA was spitting ghetto vignettes on there :whoo:

Those drums..remember listening to them shyts on my old cd walkman and the drums would pierce the headphones

I'm not from Texas but as a Dem this makes me smile:

That's Wendy Davis, gubernatorial candidate in Texas going to the polls to cast her vote and she's rapping the W and herself. a vote for Wendy is literally a vote for a better tomorrow
First time in my life that I wish I was a Texan so I could vote for her

Babies > anything on 8 Diagrams. All 3 verses are incredible in different ways.

you feelin good about this rls mac?

newly released song or album in general?

new song- it's the best of the released tracks, and they sound good on it, but the beat itself still sounds a bit off. I think something that's coming though the most on these new cuts is the percussion. RZA used to be the best in the game at drums and he has classic albums with such varied and different production from song to song as opposed to others who would always lay in very similar drums or, as production tech improved and expanded, everything became drum machines. The live drums for these cuts somehow just aren't hitting like those older drums did, even though some of the old ones were mixes of samples, replayed breaks, live & drum machines. I think it's similar to those albums like Legendary Weapons & Chamber Music being decent but no where near proper Wu albums. I think a big part of the Wu sound that's missing is the drums. Take an album like The W, which I love the production of, and that's an album where RZA themed the album w/ percussion and on each track, the most varied part of the instrumentation are the drums. On the tracks so far, the drums just sound like another instrument recorded in the live session rather than the backbone

album overall- Family Reunion was nice as a novelty but that sounds a pre-album mixtape teaser track and shouldn't be on the album in any way, shape or form if it ends up being that last song on the tracklisting. It's like a soundtrack cut for an urban rom-com. Keep Watch has a horrible hook and Math proves he's still the weakest Wu-Element on drums with that awful drum machine handclap beat. Ron O'Neal was pretty good instrumentally but again had an awful, awful hook and is probably the best evidence for what I'm talking about drumwise (unless it sounds crisper in the final version) as the some of the drum kicks float under the other instrumentation in the mix when that should be the most consistent level in your beat. They shouldn't be overpowered by the replayed horns and keys. Also I feel like that sample they're replaying has been done better before by someone but I can't place it.

I'm feeling like this album is going to be another 8 Diagams. Now, while I liked that album instrumentally alot, my main issues were horrible hooks, bad sequencing & half the crew sounding like they didn't want to be there on tracks. This one so far the crew is sounding pretty energized (doesn't hurt all the released tracks have Meth who is still in a fukking zone), but fukk Nathaniel and the beats haven't even been 8 Diagrams level. Wait & see but nothing so far has me on the edge of my seat to hear more.

listened to the track a few more times, I have to say even tho GZA was one of the better ones on 8D (Weak Spot, Windmill were among the best out of all) that was his best Clan song performance since Babies. he nailed the tempo change, which I was unsure he could still pull off

GZA really did surprise. When he started rapping I thought it was gonna be another GZA Nyquil verse. This verse has me pumped for Dark Matter even more.
