People won’t admit this, but this is why a Vince McMahon is needed for the vast majority of talent.
Very few talents can successfully take control of the direction of their creative.
Tony letting Mercedes basically be Sasha Banks on steroids and jobbing out the women’s roster was a miscalculation.
Mercedes has a face full of egg for walking out on WWE. The machine moved on and leveled up without her.

Tommy Dreamer compared her to Aaron Rodgers on the Jets.
It’s funny too because the “neutral” mark is writing think pieces in his little safe space, since he’s too much of a puzzy to post here, bytching about old heads critiquing Sasha when if you took time to watch the clip they actually shoot her a lot of bail.
Doesn’t change the fact her run in AEW has been a flop tho and we called it on page 1

Zero surprise dreamer is a sad sack jet fan. The bit when he almost started crying talking about when a gun got pulled on him was wild. But you need that sort of imbalance to be a compelling wrestling personality.
Dude has mashed potatoes for brains but I think did a good job defending Mercedes. The Rodgers comparison doesn't really work because he's at the end of his career and Mercedes should be in the prime of hers. Jalen Hurts is probably a more apt comparison.
Is Mercedes a bad wrestler? Is she a bad promo? Do people care about her? I don't know that AEW has put her in a position for me to think otherwise at this point. The CEO shyt is just terrible. But whats the alternative? What else can she do in the circumstances she's in? That's why I'm pushing for the Toni feud because no one else can really help her at this point seemingly.
That robotic WWE promo style doesn't translate well to other promotions.
Other than that, her run has been solid, and she wasnt doing anything particularly better in the WWE the last couple years.

I mean there's no doubt she is pulling the best numbers of all the AEW females, being built up in the WWE gives you that kind of following. And she's been grinding media appearances, keeping active on social media. I thought we would be sitting here at this point going "You have a former WWE women's champ and she is no where to be seen getting exposure for AEW" so they are at least doing well on that front. But still, no one person is bigger than the brand, only so much that can do for you.
The booking criticism is completely valid, she should have came in as heel and immediately feuded with Toni, sorry but the Mariah/Mina stuff just had to take a backseat. Instead you had her come in as a face then immediately start this slow heel turn, which is already confusing. Then her first feud was against Willow, who isn't exactly at star status. And then it took her over 4 months to go completely heel.
Then add to that it was clear WWE's scripted promos really benefitted her, and her lackluster mic work was really exposed from day 1. It seemed at one point they were headed in the direction of giving her Stokely as a mouthpiece, but clearly not. I just can't put enough emphasis on how her mic work has bombed multiple segments of hers for me.
Even with Kamille as her heater now, Kamille is so green, and doesn't fit Mercedes vibe at all.
