We have a saying:
The most dangerous part of your flight, is the drive to the Airport

For the people who are scarred of flying...
Flying in on a commercial aircraft has NEVER BEEN SAFER!
There are over 90,000 commercial flights a day worldwide and 27,000 domestically...
Outside of the Asiana Incident,
We haven't had one since 2009
Colgan Air Flight 3407...
...which crashed near Buffalo, killing 50 people, on Feb. 12, 2009.
The pilot’s maneuver was the opposite of what he should have done when ice formed on the wings.

Involving a major carrier domestically...
Not since 2001

You can do the math on flights per death and see its low number

Statistically...
You have more of a chance of dying from the food on-board than being involved in an accident.

Air travel is the second-safest mode of mass transportation in the world.
This is second only to the escalator and elevator.
Your chances of being involved in an aircraft accident are approximately 1 in 11 million.
Your chances of being killed in an automobile accident are 1 in 5000.

planes usually crash not soon after take off so it would make sense if it went down in the ocean.

Lets look at statistics...
Looking at Commercial Jet Airplane Accidents - Worldwide Operations 2001 to 2010,
17% occur in the takeoff phase (10% on takeoff and 7% on initial climb) accounting for 25% of the fatalities.
During the landing phase, there are 36% of the accidents (14% during the final approach and 22% during landing), accounting for 24% of the fatalities.
This means that there is a greater chance of being in an accident during the landing phase but the likelihood of being a fatality is approximately the same.

@Poitier posted this in the TLR thread :salute:... Missing Malaysia Airlines plane: Family of Chinese passenger says mobile phone working

So are they sure he brought his phone with him?

Also, this "Desperate family members have asked Malaysia Airlines to use satellite technology to pick up the mobile phone signals of passengers before their phones run out of batteries"

...Is a good idea.

International flights scare the shyt out of me for real :merchant:

Definitely seems as if there's a different element, in terms of passengers, on those planes.

Airports and airplanes have always been kinda weird to me. Just a lot of nervous energy and tension. There's an uneasiness. And an unfamiliar type of people...if that makes sense.

I like watching the planes take off, though.

I was busy yesterday, but I was watching MHP and they said Interpol discovered 2 people boarded the plane with missing pass ports.

I think it does :ld:

Plane explodes in mid-air=Phone explodes...straight to voicemail

Plane hits water and dosen't explode but is in the deep ocean=straight to voicemail....

Plane hits water and explodes=straight to voicemail..............

Plane breaks into sections = phone survives and rings

Phone is packed into carry on bag, plane explodes = phone survives and rings

Phones in cases are durable, I had a phone fall in the toliet ring and receive calls but they couldn't hear me talk

@midwesthiphop

...my apologies...

Actually some truth to your post about "not meaning anything"...

I was thinking that just because there is ringing heard on the caller's end doesn't necessarily mean the cell phone is ringing. It actually happens often with folks I know, and they don't have service and it's not ringing on their end. I still say that trying to pick up any mobile phone sigs is a good idea.
