This is all a proxy war between super powers trying influence a region that's extremely valuable to Africa. Its China vs USA trying to control that region. USA supports the old regime and China supporting the new regime.

Why the senators supports Abiy could be because Ethiopia has been lobbying him, the current administration does not support Abiy and his government. The senator can't do much since Republicans are currently in the minority.

Ethiopia came too far to go back to the old ways. The PM just needs do better job presenting the government case to the US/EU/UN to deescalate the situation and not play hardball. Ethiopia is friendly with Eritrea and Somaliland (recently signed major deal with Dubai Ports access to Berbera ) and Djibouti, good relationship with its neighbors, but the Tigray issue still persist.
Ethiopia doesn't need outside meddlers in their affairs. When had that ever worked out in the favor of the meddlee?
They don't want Eritrea, Somalia, Djibouti and Ethiopia to have a United sphere of influence because we would control the gulf of Eden and the East African port system.
I'm devastated at the loss of life and the indifference to it but running to foreign powers isn't the answer

What’s interesting is that so much funding for the Oromo groups that are killing indiscriminately in Ethiopia is coming from Minneapolis and yet America turns a blind eye to their supposed ally having this added weight placed upon them while at the same time trying to bring equivalence between a literal dictatorship which has been pushed aside and a novice leader making mistakes but trying desperately to keep the country together and bring them into the 21st century.

Egypt unfortunately is part of the problem. They’re all too happy to see this go on and it’s a high likelihood that they’ve been helping prolong all of the internal conflicts through various channels. Also, America and other countries harbor many of the people that are funding and encouraging the hatred and violence between Ethiopians which is the cause of the instability. What’s sick about it is if they get their way this will be more bloody than Rwanda ever was. It’s truly shameful and disgusting and shows what happens when a criminal political party teaches the people to hate one another. Africa truly isn’t allowed the prosper.
