I wasn't super familiar with the results of the last one, I just loosely know that it affected shows like Lost and Heroes that were hot back when I was in school years ago. Not sure how that would look in the modern day.

It's always been wild to me that writers and animators (for anime) are the most overworked and underpaid parts of a show. How do they even allow that to happen? The show doesn't happen without them

I work in film production so I'll try to break it down.

Every three years, the WGA re-ups their contract with the studios. With streaming becoming the new normal in media consumption, the studios have found ways to pay writers less and less money. Apart from the usual paycheck, writers use to get good residuals back in the days of network television. That's not the case now with streaming, since these studios keep their financials in house and make content exclusively for their platforms.

Basically, the writers are fighting for higher wages, more money towards their Healthcare and pensions, and better residuals.
