I think EVERYTHING goes better for Bret if he stayed.

He could have feuded with Austin and had a series of classic matches in 98, or at least followed up with another classic at WM14.

The whole Owen tragedy probably doesn't happen either.

True but there lies the other question of would Bret had want to stay for the Attitude Era?

Bret was pretty vocal about really disliking how: every thing was getting too raunchy, how the fans were getting too bloodthirsty, how the bad guys were getting cheered eliminating good guy heroes in general.

We probably would have still had the attitude era but not to the extent we got in 1998-1999. No Val Venis, Mark Henry and Mae Young, etc. I think it would have been like it was in the 2-3 months before Bret left. Edgy but not like it was after he left.
