DX was so huge when I was in Elementary School that crotch chops got banned. If you got caught doing them you were fukked.

When Too Cool came around everybody, even people who quit watching knew what The Worm was. The Worm is something that transcended wrestling as was how they dressed. They literally were too cool to youngstas.
NWO especially Wolfpack were loved too. In fact, WCW got a ton of love where I came from. WWE was huge too but WCW was viewed as having cooler wrestlers like Sting and Goldberg.
