I said on :hamster: Wrestlemania 19 was the last Great Mania, only thing wrong was HHH going over Booker. twice he shouldn't have gone over and did. 16 and 19.

the best manias ever were 3,5,6,12,17,18,19

WOULDVE BEEN EPIC IF MCMAHON BOOKED HIMSELF IN THE MAIN EVENT OF HIS OWN PPV VS THE TROLLSTER

This and WM 6 are the only two WMs I can pop in and watch all the way thru at any time.

Even the Limp Bizkit show was great. This is the only WM where the music act actually had the crowd hyped and didnt get boo'd.

And when you add in that documentary they did on WM 19, it's hard not to put it as the GOAT

I saw it explained before, I think it had something to do with it not being available to people with digital cable or some shyt like that.

But yeah, it was a good card. Only thing I'd really change is taking out that Cat Fight bullshyt, and having the RVD/Kane vs Val/Storm tag team title match from Sunday Night Heat on the card instead.

The opposite actually:

Wrestlemania 19: 560,000 ()

First digital cable only PPV. As in you could order it ONLY IF you had a digital cable box.

:snoop:

As for the PPV itself, it had one of my favorite matches ever on it (Michaels/Jericho) as well as one of the best main events in WM history on it (Angle/Lesnar, even with the botch) and maybe the best WM undercard ever, but I still can't put it on the level of the best of the best WrestleManias, SOLELY because of the way that Triple H/Booker T went down. Awful. Just the worst.

And here's the really stupid thing about it: The reason that they didn't put the belt on Booker was because he was reportedly contemplating retirement at the time (which might have been mentioned here at some point). Now, the booking, with this in mind, makes sense on its face, but it also begs a few questions, namely:

-Why even put Booker in the position to main event? (Because he was the most over face they had left on RAW after his BookDust run and they destroyed Kane and RVD's momentum)

-Why not have Booker just win and transition the belt back onto Hunter if they had such worries about him retiring? (Because Goldberg was in the wings and the possible plan was to have him beat Hunter in June for the WHC. Can't have Hunter keep winning and losing the belt before then for momentum's sake, I suppose)

-With all of this in mind, why in the fukk did they not just run a different storyline so Booker wouldn't lose in such a tasteless and exploitative fashion? (Uhh...Wrestling?)

And here's the beginning of an insanely stupid trend in WWE booking that persists in terrible fashion today: Booking themselves into a corner of their own design, then proceeding to choose the absolute worst way out of it for idiotic reasons. Maybe not the first example, to be honest, but certainly the worst of the examples we have.

So yeah, I appreciate WrestleMania XIX, but it will never appear on my best of lists.

24 was maybe better and was the best of this era thats for sure

1 John "Bradshaw" Layfield defeated Finlay (with Hornswoggle) Belfast Brawl 08:35
2 CM Punk defeated Shelton Benjamin, Chris Jericho, Carlito, Montel Vontavious Porter, Mr. Kennedy, and John Morrison Money in the Bank ladder match 13:55 this shyt was fukkin great
3 Batista (representing Smackdown) defeated Umaga (representing Raw) Battle for Brand Supremacy 07:06in retrospect the stip doesnt matter but it was a way to make the match seem important. And batista and umaga worked well together
4 Kane defeated Chavo Guerrero (c) Singles match for the ECW Championship 0:11 :heh:
5 Shawn Michaels defeated Ric Flair Career Threatening Match 20:23 TRULY a goat match
6 Beth Phoenix and Melina (with Santino Marella and Snoop dogg) defeated Maria and Ashley. Playboy BunnyMania Lumberjill match :mannh: 05:56
7 Randy Orton (c) defeated John Cena and Triple H[51] Triple Threat match for the WWE Championship 14:09 :whew: 2 biggest stars of this era and the biggest heel of the last. And the right man goes over
8 Floyd Mayweather defeated The Big Show by knockout [72] No Disqualification match; decided by either knockout or submission 11:36 i think this gets a lot of unearned heat. The buildup promo was fukkin awesome and mayweather was entertaining.
9 The Undertaker defeated Edge (c) (with Vickie Guerrero, Curt Hawkins and Zack Ryder) by submission [54] Singles match for the World Heavyweight Championship 23:50 awesome main event. One of the rare times where you thought maybe UT would lose. Edge was red hot right then.

Some Manias are better in hindsight, and some haven't aged too good. WM 10 gets a lot of love here, but outside of Bret/Owen and HBK/Razor, I'm hard pressed to think of ANYTHING else on that card worth checking for. I sure don't wanna see Men on a Mission vs The Quebecers, or Lex vs Yoko, or Bam Bam & Luna vs Doink & Dink, or and Earthquake squash over Adam Bomb, or Alundra vs a flabby n sick Leilani Kai. This was one of the GOAT Manias?

Mania 19 was a great one for sure... my other faves are WM3, 6, 8 (which IMO is often underrated), 14, 17 (of course), 19, 22, 24... and every one after that has been just OK. 26 was also good from what I recall (minus the Bret/McMahon match), but I only saw it once and haven't been that interested in watching it again, so :yeshrug:. I've also found Mania V to be much better than I recall it being at the time. I might try to check out Mania VII again too, even tho' I already know I hate the main event AND that blindfold match :scusthov: but the ones from that era tend to carry a nostalgic value that's helped them age well.

Only saw Austin vs. Rock and HBK vs. Jericho. Both of those were good, I still need to see the entire show. I haven't seen that many Manias all the way through really.

At 13? Yeah, I can pass on that whole show except Austin/Bret, honestly. I watched it recently and it's jsut a really, really depressing show. You can tell WWF was going thru it with WCW kicking their ass... it even looks like Vince was giving up by that point :heh: It's a real dull show, much different than most Manias, and there's a good card in there somewhere w/ the talent they had, but the matches weren't right.
