No offense but you are likely too young to make that statement. Research would tell you Nique wasn't from Atlanta.

Yea but coming out of high school he got crazy hype was consider the next A.I with hops. If yu look at it from that standpoint he's a disappointment. If yu look at it from where he was drafted he's a steal
By the time he got drafted he wasn't getting that kind of hype. Scouts started to cool on him during the all star games and workouts. That's why he got drafted lateHe got drafted out of high school, 45th overall, he was never considered the next AI. I live in Philly there was no hype surrounding him when he was picked. He drastically overachieved, or at least exceeded expectations, and became beloved in Philly because of that.
You could go back as far as Walt Frazier.
In my general era Abdur-Rahim, Shandon Anderson, James Forest, etc.
Jump forward and you get closer to Dwight, Josh, etc.
There is more than a fair amount. Point being that talented guys came through long before Lou. The state in general has a solid talent level in the NBA let alone college basketball.
Yea Lou will and them made a loaded Oak Hill look like rookies lol.By the time he got drafted he wasn't getting that kind of hype. Scouts started to cool on him during the all star games and workouts. That's why he got drafted late
I understand the OP. Lou Will was the most celebrated ATL high school bball player I can remember. Lou was a 40 point scoring, AI-lite type of PG in high school. 4 times all states, Naismith National Player of the year his senior year, #2 all time scorer in GA state history. Ranked top 5 in his high school class. He looked like a future all star. His game last night is what we all expected regularly.
People using him being picked 45th is kind of useless because he as part of the last prep-to pros class and doing that as a PG is extremely difficult.
There have only been 4 high school PG’s to go straight to the NBA
Shaun Livingston
Sebastian Telfair
Monta Ellis
Louis Williams
I would say Lou is #2 behind Monta amongst PGs that skipped college and I think a year of college ball would have helped him and Bassy tremendously. Lou never really developed NBA PG skills and that’s why he has been a career 6th man.
Exactly Lou will was a big deal and HS b ball in GA was ELITE during that time ON TOP of Him playing a national schedule at this. In the 2000s HS basketball was actually a legit litmus test as top players were playing national schedules which is essentially not the same as playig local talent.Seriously, if you guys did not follow high school basketball in the mid 2000's there is no reason to comment that he exceeded expectations. Him falling to the second round was due to him being bullied by stronger players during predraft workouts.
I think you guys are really over looking he is one of 4 point guards ever selected in the NBA draft directly from high school. 4, that's it and each one was a McDonald's All American and considered a potential generational player.
In high school he was considered better than every PG in America not named Monta Ellis. Ty Lawson was ranked under him, and I think we can all agree that thus far Lawson has had a better career.
Stephen A Smith clowned the Sixers when we took him in the draftBy the time he got drafted he wasn't getting that kind of hype. Scouts started to cool on him during the all star games and workouts. That's why he got drafted late
