it’s illegal to keep one as a pet in Alaska, Connecticut, the District of Columbia, Hawaii, Idaho, Illinois, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, North Dakota and Rhode Island. However, in some of these states — Alaska, Michigan and North Dakota — a wolfdog can be “grandfathered” in. Other states — Minnesota, North Carolina, Ohio, Oregon, Texas and Utah — don’t regulate ownership on a state level, instead leaving it up to individual counties.

Wish I remembered the name of the book where the author detailed his time raising a wolf dog. Author ended up having to put mad chains on the wolf dog and take up power lifting to even stand a chance at not being dragged if the animal saw a squirrel
