Beyonce's wack ass debut first single completely flopped "Work It Out" summer 2002
She had to push her first album back a whole year while Ashanti(Commercially) and Amerie(Creatively) ran 2002 R&B

Aaliyah was already gone and she was still struggling until she jacked Amerie's producer/sound and put out "Crazy In Love"
got with Jay(Aaliyah old bf) and came out with a remade 2pac song "03 Boniie & Clyde"
like Ashanti/Nas/Murda INC already did a year before ("The Pledge")

Aaliyah was gonna star the Matrix sequels her next album would have done dumb numbers she would have been ruling

While some of this is true, Beyonce didn't jack Amerie's sound. Rich Harrison had already produced Kelly Rowland's "Can't Nobody" around the time Amerie debuted. He was already producing for that camp.

Destinys child were damn near going diamond when Aaliyah was doing about 2 ms

They are not the same type of artists, and people aren’t so dumb to not be able to like more than one artist. They fukked with Alicia, Beyoncé, Aaliyah, Mariah and more at the same time.

Why does this culture always have to shyt on black people to appreciate black people. Can’t you wake up with just positive thoughts about your people :snoop:

"Work it out" was a soundtrack song for Austin Powers, in Austin Powers format.

And Crazy in Love was her first song released of her album after recording a blockbuster movie and touring of a 5x platinumDestiny's Child album, how is that struggling :mjlol:

And I don't know how being in Matrix, especially a minor role, makes you sell RnB songs, Nona Gaye another singer played that role didn't sell a single record more of that. But her success would most likely continue... why not, not of fukking a minor in Matrix though lol.

People who drank too much hateraid always have the conclusion in their head and then just make up a bunch of random shyt to try to support that conclusion :mjlol:

I knew someone was gonna say this :russ:

"Work it Out" was gonna be the LEAD single for her 2002 album that was scrapped

You know why most people think it was just for the soundtrack??? it flopped that damn HARD

:mjlol:

And I said she was struggling BEFORE "crazy in love"

Aaliyah being in the Matrix would have made her a household name in white america shyt she was damn near already there with "Queen of the Damned" you can't front like that wouldn't have moved tons of units

Columbia records didn't give him a choice they wanted everything to go to Beyonce's camp or JLO....which is why Amerie had to sneak "One Thing" on the radio just to get it out....Amerie was getting jacked by her own label really but it ain't like Beyonce was gonna be like "nah I want to be original" because nothing she has ever done has been original period even her fast rap singing style she blew up in DC with was stolen

Yes you said she was struggling when she had sold 5x with Destiny's, been on world tour and dropped a blockbuster movie where she had a major role in her first movie. Like exactly when was she struggling? January 2003?

It was meant to be on the soundtrack, people thought so cause 1. It was the first song on the soundtrack. 2. Austin was in the fukking video and 3. the whole song was in Austin Powers format :wtf: . It was also meant to be included on her album, but the album was delayed and it was included as a bonus track or something. The music industry will always try to find synergies, they would've put Bonnie and Clyde on her album too if the timing was right. They'd even put her first song with Amil on there. As Austin Powers was bigger in some countries, and consequently he song, they put the song on the album in some countries.

Have you even seen the Matrix? Zee had like no lines at all, she wasn't gonna play Neo or Trinity. You really think white boys who love Matrix were gonna say damn I need to go back and get that Lil Mo and Aaliyah now. Aaliyah had #1 songs in the US and world, if you weren't convinced by then, being the 23rd actor on the Matrix damn sure wouldn't :mjlol:

Rich Harrison was NEVER exclusively Amerie's producer though. Amerie wasn't necessarily jacked by her label. She had weak follow-up singles. Beyonce had THREE other records that sounded NOTHING like "Crazy In Love" that were smash hits: "Baby Boy", Me, Myself, and I", and "Naughty Girl".

They both would have co existed but Aaliyah would've still been very big as she was slated to be in several movies such as The Matrix which would have certified her A list status as everyone knows of the matrix. The crossover into acting would've helped her have more relevancy.

I may have responded to this thread already. Anyway, my take is this:

1) Beyonce was going to be Beyonce even when Aaliyah was alive. Beyonce just wasn't solo yet, but I don't see how Aaliyah being alive changes Beyonce's trajectory. Doesn't make sense

2) This whole notion that Aaliyah wasn't talented or couldn't sing needs to stop. Yes, she had dope writers and producers, but even artists greater than Aaliyah benefited from dope writers and producers. There's artists that flopped or were nowhere near successful using the same writers and producers as Aaliyah. Changing Faces had entire albums helmed by R. Kelly and still weren't as successful as Aaliyah. Timbaland and Missy helmed albums from other artists that weren't as successful as Aaliyah.
/Close Thread.

Aaliyah was amazing but she just wasn’t on this level or gave any evidence that she ever would be :manny:

No. They both would of co-existed.

Now, if static was alive, she would continue to be a game changer.

Look at Aaliyah's sales in 2001. She already hit her peak and was on the downswing of her career. She was struggling to go gold in an era where everyone was selling platinum plus. Her lead single for her album that year peaked at at #59 on Billboard which was horrible for an artist of her caliber. Meanwhile Beyonce was killing it with Destiny's Child. You can make the argument that she was already bigger than Aaliyah at that point.

You still had singers like Whitney Houston, Alicia Keys, Mary J Blige among others. But you're probably speaking about the complete package of singing and choreographing.
