The funny thing is a lot of her good music was done when she was a teenager. She was just turning into a woman when she died. I remember that "Are You That Somebody" like it was yesterday. That shyt was the summer anthem.

having your own style and being in your own lane are 2 different things. she was in the female teen singer lane, playing 3rd fiddle to monica & brandy. now yall are suddenly acting like she was patti labelle & aretha franklin rolled into one.

and no, she didnt have her own sound. she had r.kelly's sound. then they she went and hopped on timbaland & missy's sound when they signed to her uncle's label.

her last album wasnt making any noise until she died. i dont see how you can assume that she would still be making classic music. hell, timbaland & missy havnt been involved with classic music in YEARS themselves. and her acting career is overstated. that "queen of the damned" movie got chitted on and she was supposed to have just a small role in the matrix.

yes indeed aalyiah was influential. she just wasnt nearly as big as shes made out to be post-death.

this whole thread is off-tilt from jumpstreet considering that beyonce was already bigger than aalyiah when she was still alive. and it wasnt even a debate.

Seems like most of the people hating on Beyonce are ones that just skim "singles" ..Beyonce is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay better of an artist than Aaliyah and waaaaaaaay more versatile... its not even close. Aaliyah singing ability is closer to your favorite local female unsigned singing artists that is "OK" at singing....so she does the dancing thing real nice to make up for it. Too bad Beyonces dancing is much better than those robotic stiff "routines" Aaliyah used to do lol.

Beyonce will go down as one of the greatest female singers of all time based on singing ability. Theres literally no style she can't do...Aaliyah was like the wale of rnb singers...she can only sing one way and she sounded like SHYT live...

Im skimmin thru this thread. Ya goin in on Beyonce/Aaliyah. I'll admit Beyonce is the more talented. But as a male I gotta roll wit yet again Aaliyah. That girl was singin to dudes while the rest of these chicks was bashing nikkas hard lol. Majority of her catatalog is damn near catterin to men. Beyonce was makin bills bills bills jumpin jumpin survivor and dont forget independent women lol. TLC had scrubs. Im just speakin from a dudes perspective.

i prefer to listen to aalyiah as well. but thats just a preference. i cant say with a straight face that aalyiah is better than beyonce. lol.
