No. They would be within a step or two every time like just about every other major leaguer. Speed is very rarely the difference between a hit and an out in baseball.

I used to outrun a lot of routine grounders in high school. Had to get with a private hitting coach to really shorten my follow through and how to get out of the box quickly. Resulted in a lot of doubles too. Would think some of the guys in the majors could do it more often, but the arms on the left side of the infield are often incredible with quick releases.
