He’s controversial because he says stupid shyt
Tries to seem tough on crime
Appointed shady associates to powerful position
He is popular with people who judge politicians on if they would want to hang out with them.
Definitely in favor of big business over everything
He’s in NY and I don’t think that act is going to hold up though. Only because the way information is shared between resident means the informed voters are going to tell people he is fukking up. Whereas Fox News and news radio provides information to people who are more insulated in their social bubbles. It’s interesting as thought experiment but could guys like Trump exist without narratives made to support them in the media.
Real early in his term but I’ve never seen someone start off so badly.

He made his brother commissioner of police and his top public safety advisor (not officially appointed but already advising and conducting conversations for other roles) is a dude that straight up had to resign after the FBI caught him taking bribes and laundering the money. Adams is def setting the tone for a terrible experience.

You know, thinking about it I honestly don't think this is really true.
IMO it's less to do with Dem voters caring about civility/platitudes and more that Democrats (voters and politicians) are just risk-averse and very afraid to take chances.
Even if you look at polls of primary voters in 2020 all they really cared about was "who has the best chance of beating Trump". That isn't a criticism because that's how I felt at the time too
but it's probably a major reason why someone like Trump could never get anywhere in the Dem party. Voters are too scared of losing to a Republican to even take a chance with that type of person.

Yep very Trump like. He just promoted the “advisor” Phillip Banks to his deputy commissioner on public safety and made that man’s brother David Banks the School Commissioner. It’s early as Hell but I don’t think he get re-elected. He’s stepping on all the land mines and setting up new ones behind him. It’s less than a week and you can see the scandals coming.
Don’t even get me started on how David Banks got bribed by Orthadox Jews, Eric Adam’s biggest supporter are Orthodox Jews, and he just put three Orthadox Jews as his commissioner of Community Affairs (aka who gives the perks out), Commissioner of International Affairs (aka expect a lot of support of Israel) and his Chief of Staff and Deputy Chief of staff also have very strong ties to the Jewish Orthodox Community. It pretty easy to see where the money will come in and the favors will go out.
