Just curious, what shoes do you wear when working out? Lately, my feet have been feeling jacked up after workouts. Specifically, when doing lower body (Squats, etc), the arches start to hurt a bit. I've switches shoes (running shoes, various 90s Air Max, basketball shoes, etc. I'm close to having a doc check my feet for damage.

I've always heard it was better to do squats and stuff in flat shoes; running and basketball shoes aren't really good for keeping your feet flat and generating that push you need to get the weight up. It may not make a difference if you just starting with the bar or light weights on Starting Strength or Stronglifts, but when you get up around 300-400 lbs, all that weight coming is coming down on your arches, since those running and hoop sneakers are basically like lifting on pillows.

I got a flat sole pair of adidas strictly for lifting, and sometimes if I forget them I'll just lift in my socks.

for weight lifting, flat shoes with incompressible soles are the only option(or simply barefoot)
