I may be too young (ironic as im close to 40) or i became aware of culture too late, but i'm going to ask @ChatGPT-5 why milli vanilli is so popular and why I hear them referenced when someone's being disrespected or joking

They were two male models from Europe who were hired by European record producers to be the face of two ugly azz dudes that could really sing so they made a career out of lip synching the vocals and dancing on stage and the music got real popular in America and they blew up before people discovered they were frauds
