Obviously thats a residue of the times women were nothing but a man's possession.

What do you guys think about that? Personally I would understand if my wife wouldn't necessarily want to lose her last name in favour of mine, but then from a practical point of view I don't see how we could do otherwise.

If we give our kids both our names, say Jonhson and Brown, our kids are gonna be Johnson-Browns'

Then what about their kids? In 5 generations well have 10 names long last names and shyt

Or we could each give our last names to our kids, some Johnson some Brown, but thats:patrice:

What do the brehs and brehettes think on the matter?

Marry a brazilian or portuguese. In those cultures the MAN takes the woman's last name. I have a coworker who had to change his.

Letting your wife hyphenate her name (or even worse, you AND her hypenating your names) is probably the weakest shyt anyone can do.

Let your wife not fully give herself away in marriage, brehs

So she has to give up more than you? How is it weak? Scared of looking weak is weak, friend.

I had a friend years ago who took his WIFE'S last name. :weirdo:

Now, unless my last name carried some kind of generational curse, there's absolutely no fukken way.......

There's nothing wrong with hyphenated last names in my opinion. I guess American culture has different views on this from what i'm seeing here.

In Islam for example, women are encouraged to keep their maiden last names in marriage to the men. That's how it is for my family. My mom kept her last name but i still take my dad's last name as well as the first part of the name of his dad.

Tell me a woman has to give up more than a man when women aren't capable of ripping kids away for their fathers with ease via divorce courts and taking half a man's fortune through the same vehicle.

I don't like hyphenated names...it's too confusing. If you're going to go through all of the legalities to change your name on every piece of ID, then might as well fully commit or just keep your name.

I'd definitely take my husband's last name - when you're a family, you're a unit...you all become the "Smiths"

I wonder why more couples don't change their last names to something entirely different.

Seems like it would settle the argument. :ld:
