she got money she wasn't expecting yet now it's the money that she's relaying on to pay her bills...bills she had prior to getting the money..ok. 18k bout to be gone and you still got regular bills....:wow:

anyway, accounts/deposits get frozen everyday b, shyt aint hard to figure out. :francis:

It would seem that the money from her job is also frozen (which I assume is what she relied to pay bills before the 50k).

You're right. It's what comes before.

Only if the IRS investigates and determines that the money is from or for Illegal activity. According to their own website, they will longer seize money associated with large cash desposits and withdrawals if it is not associated with criminal activity. Why? Because honest business men and women who deal in cash were being unfairly targeted and losing out on the money for years.

she still took out 13k that didn't pay not one bill? :dahell: she could be dealing with a frozen account with a lot more breathing room if her bills were paid :yeshrug:

Idk what she did with 13k, but I also only pay my bills when they are due (even my auto pay bills come out near the due date) so I won't judge others for doing the same if they know they have the money for it.

Whether you pay your bills on the day of or 15 days in advance, your credit report will say the same thing (on time).

Expecting or choosing to be able to pay your bill when they are due seems like an odd reason to judge someone. Whatever makes y'all feel better though.

breh, she was fukking off money, end of story. her actions got flagged, with reason, nothing more. and the reason most people pay their bills on the due date or after is that they closely align to pay dates (rent and utilites at least), if i have 50k in my bank account that i have decided i dont mind spending, and it's may 23, i know rent is due in a week, it's being paid. she made her decision, she's free to do what she wants, but she made her decision

But your stance is steeped in bias and personal opinion... not objectivity... we're talking about the banks unfair practices... and posters like yourself are saying she deserved to be treated as such simply because she doesn't manager her money in a way that you approve of....

Yea fukk them and tell them why youre doing it too...after you get your money tho so no fukkery happens in between

I just closed the account and it was hella anticlimactic (not surprising) because the first person who greeted me was a nice black teller who directed me to the manager (a white lady) and I only generally mentioned closing the account due to customer service and preferring my other bank & credit union's service.

She did try to get me to keep the account open because they "hate losing business" and she hoped that I consider opening an account again when I move back south.

She also asked questions that I felt were patronizing like "how I saved all that money" which was eyeroll worthy since 1) most people save money by working 2) its been in there untouched for years and 3) it was only a few thousand (hardly what anyone would consider a significant amount).

I kept it cute and immediately took the cashier's check to a different bank (which is a better option anyway because it has locations in the south where my parents live and in the Midwest where my fiancé lives...and I expect all of those parties to contribute to wedding funds).

no, the reason i side with the bank is because they have precedence to put a hold on the money. if you have an account that usually has low - average balances and particular credit/debit patterns then you show up with tons of cash (probably more than she makes a year) and you're making huge withdrawals, you're getting flagged and frozen. i have a credit card from one of my banks i really just use for subscription services (netflix, amazon prime, spotify, etc.) and airfare, a few times i have taken it to vegas and LA and went hard on it, each time the account got frozen because of the "suspicious activity", this happens with bank accounts as well...this is why i don't feel sympathetic, it happens. but then you got people further making excuses for her as to why she's in dire straits due to the freeze and i'm really like :camby:, she came up on a windfall and did nothing responsible with it (based on her whining about her bills) AND didn't know how banks work and wants to play victim...i'm cool.

...and the bank obviously filed sar's on you if your story has any merit. They do this every month with anyone who withdraws over 5,000 at a time.

it doesn't matter what they file, I don't what for the bank, and it has nothing to do with my money. You can take out as much money as you want, if you make a lot of ATM withdraws they will block the card and you will have to call them to verify it was you lmao. There's no flag for withdrawing any amount of money if it's yours.

She already withdrew 13,000 without being flagged, the person who flagged was the clerk who did so of a personal bias.

You sound like the idiots who think they contact the IRS with every 10,000 deposited lmao.

No where did I imply that she wasn't "fukking off money"? Please quote it if I did. I even started my post with "idk what she did with 13k.

My post addressed the fact that people were acting like she didn't have a job or the bank account before it was frozen and were asking silly questions like "how did she pay her bills before." I haven't taught elementary school in a while, but I think even my former third graders could infer that she paid her bills with her job (cited in the article) and that same account before it was frozen. It also addressed the idea that people are acting like it's odd to pay bills when they are due. That is normal behavior and if you know you have the money, what is the rush?

I'm not the type person who lives paycheck to paycheck/have to wait to get paid to pay a bills (heck my check from TA'ing comes in the middle of the month) and I STILL pay them on or near the due date (and statistically speaking I have better credit than like 82% of the general population). There is literally nothing odd about paying your bills on time - whether you have the money or not.

They still would have frozen the account whether she paid the bills or not. And if she had paid all of the next months bills, and her account was subsequently frozen, y'all would ask why she didn't pay a year's worth lol.

The same has happened to me and not once did they suggest potentially freezing my account for a year while they "investigate."

When my AMEX was fraudulently copied, it was literally cut off until they overnighted me a new card. That's good customer service.
