The Hawks now have 13 players under contract for next season. The recent agreements with Mike Muscala and Ersan Ilyasova brings the total of returning players to seven from the roster of 15 that ended last season. The Hawks also recently agreed to terms with free agent Dewyane Dedmon and draft picks John Collins and Tyler Dorsey.

The details of the Jamal Crawford transaction have not been verified. The Hawks obtained the guard from the Clippers in a three-way trade earlier this month. Crawford was eventually bought out and waived. I have yet to receive the buyout figure. The Hawks will stretch the cap hit over two seasons and the cash payments over five seasons. The cap hit for 2017-18 will be about $11 million. Stay tuned for final details.

The Hawks have two more roster spots available. They will likely add a third point guard, according to general manager Travis Schlenk. Josh Magette has agreed to a two-way contract and the Hawks plan to add another. The two-way contracts are extra roster spots, a 17th and 18th.

This is what C Vivlamore (Hawks beat writer) has the Hawks depth at this time:

DEPTH CHART

Point guard: Schroder, Delaney

Shooting guard: Bazemore, Belinelli, Dorsey

Small forward: Prince, Bembry

Power forward: Ilyasova, Collins

Center: Muscala, Dedmon, Plumlee, Stone

Only issues is that I don't see Bembry as a SF or Muscala starting, but this is a roster capable of winning 25-30 games

The Atlanta Hawks roster is rounding into shape for the 2017-2018 NBA season, especially in the wake of the team’s reported investment in center Dewayne Dedmon. There are still roster spots to fill, though, and the Hawks have now been linked to an intriguing free agent in the form of Shabazz Muhammad.

Muhammad will turn 25 years old in November and his best position, at least offensively, is as a small-ball power forward. The fourth-year player posted a career-best 57 percent true shooting last season and, if nothing else, Muhammad would be on the timeline for Atlanta from an age perspective.

With that said, Muhammad is a defensive liability that almost certainly profiles as a bench role player in the future. The Hawks undeniably need another power forward option but, given his limitations, Muhammad would be a challenging fit in some ways.

This from Peachtree Hoops

@Malta I'm not a fan of Muhammad as we've previously discussed as a replacement for THJR but I would welcome him as a bench/role player

He at least has more talent to start with than carroll, bazemore, and thjr. He can get a lot better under bud university

Let Muscala split minutes with Ilyasova at the 4 and play some backup 5. I really want Collins to get some significant burn, but I doubt Bud will do it if he isn't ready to play.

If we thought the past few years was WOAT when it came to clutch scoring wait until THIS year :lolbron:
