Breh, Kobe did them a huge favor by pulling up to games with those kids, rocking the hoodie at NBA games (which made it popular) and he wasn't clout chasing when he did it. You know how much it would cost to pay A listers like that to come to your events on a consistent basis?
The reality is this league literally feels some type of way about brehs but wants the support, equal $ and the benefits that comes with it.
You don't see the MLS crying about their situation, and unlike the WNBA they DON'T get first crack at the best athletes in their sport from this country. And they see to be doing okay being a "niche" sport for the time being.
Marketing, quality of product, appeal all matters along with timing and after 20+ years in existence it's the same shyt over and over again when it comes to criticizing people who aren't fans. 1. When NBC decided not to renew the NBA TV contract it hurt the WNBA. WNBA was promoted pretty good at that time it was on Saturday or Sundays at noon it was a good lead in for the NBA afternoon games. Disney decides to put the WNBA on ESPN 2 where nobody can really see it unless you're a basketball fan.
2.The Houston Comets. How does a dynasty go under and why was it allowed to happen. Houston was one of the leagues most popular teams getting a 3 peat then like that they where gone. It made the league look like a joke.
