Looks like that move to Alexandria isn't happening. Ted Leonsis is all of a sudden fawning about Capital One Arena on Twitter. Announcement on them staying in DC is coming tonight.

Owning a shytty team, that has low expectations, in a popular international city is easily the best investment on earth

Owner of the Wizards probably sleeping like a baby

Senator Lucas deaded this in VA Senate.

Bowser is at the teet of capital.

Leonsis would have to come up off half. Remember, he owns Capital One Arena, not the city.

I believe the renovations are about $800M or so. So Ted and his partners gonna put up atleast $300M of their own money.

Its funny how Ted was tweeting all this positive stuff about the city, Cap One, Caps winning streak, Wiz playing better the last few days :mjlol:

Did Nova folks actually want this? Jobs sound great, but traffic and cost to taxpayers are serious drawbacks. Was Leonsis just using VA for leverage?

Good, I don't believe an NBA/WNBA team in Virginia of all places would've been a good idea in the first place...college basketball in Virginia is one thing but an NBA/WNBA team 😖 was a terrible idea.

Even tho the Wizards have been a very mediocre (if not downright awful) franchise for decades and the Capitals being pretty decent the last few years...both teams fit in better within the DC culture, vibes, and people.

Too many rednecks, etc in Virginia.
