North Jersey but I miss Cali :sadcam:
Antifa has been around since the 1930s.

The US WWII soldiers fighting nazis were antifa.

I'm only speaking on it's current iteration. It's been around for a long time, but it's taken in different roles.

Becasue the two party system has become so polarized "left wing" is all people will think about when you bring up antifa becasue that's all that matters to them it's a left wing (insert info here)

Or their actual purpose?

I admit, I don't have the slightest clue :manny:

The only thing I know about Antifa is the the Republicans love throwing this supposed group around like the boogey man.

Is there anyone who is actually familiar with how Republicans thought it was in their benefit to associate this mystery group with the left?

e-grow bitte :hhh:

Antifa and being anti-fascist are not exactly the same thing. For one antifa is not a group, a lot of different people and groups claim to be part of the movement and they all go under that banner, nearly all are anti-fascism. However, certain groups within the antifa umbrella are obviously more anarchists, some are just anti-alt right, some are communists groups etc. it’s hard to define them. It’s just republicans that have been working overtime to make it seem like it’s one group with a detailed manifest.

That’s why I don’t like when unclear “groups” or movements take names that most sane people agree with, but stand for so much more than the name actually states.

They are not a "group" but a segment of a target population

The same could be said for "white supremacist"

Antifa is a shortend version of anti-fascist. The Fascists were the people we fought in WW2. Fascism is a direct enemy of democracy. Every soldier and veteran who has ever served is technically an antifa.

Best way I heard it described is a call to action. Call to directly Confront these neo fascists in the streets before they spread like a disease

Antifa really started in Europe. Left-wing protesters would fight right-wing protesters. Nothing like that in the US post the labor movement.

Until now.

The sad part is that for Fascism to exist there has to be political violence. I believe Antifa makes it easier for Fascism to exist in this country because they allow fascists to be politically violent.
