With DMCV and Dirt 5 showings, can we agree that hdmi 2.1 is nothing but talk?

And I'm saying this for console gamers. If you game on PC then ok.

But if you gonna game on the ps5 or series X, you do not need hdmi 2.1. Yes hdmi 2.1 gives you 4k 120 fps but there is no AAA next gen game doing that on console when cross gen titles such as DMC and dirt are at 1080p to achieve 120 fps....which you DONT need an hdmi 2.1 cord for.

Which then leaves VRR. Tvs like the tcl 6 has vrr without hdmi 2.1 so :yeshrug:. Let's just accept it fam, hdmi 2.1 is all fluff this gen unless you gonna play an indie game at 4k 120 and even then :beli:

Most people aren't going to be playing games at 1080p

1440p is pretty standard now.

And going back to 1080p on a larger screen is pretty "bad" I'd rather do that on a monitor screen if I had to.

So for 1440p and 120fps hdmi 2.1 is pretty important. Truthfully the adoption of hdmi 2.1 is just important over all.

So we gonna ignore that the tcl has no hdmi 2.1 yet has vrr and supports 1440p at 120? :dahell:

We also still not gonna acknowledge the fact that no AAA next gen games is gonna be 4k 120 on console? :dahell:

I'm willing to bet anyone that their 2.1 will go to waste this gen for AAA games on console. I'll even keep the bet alive the entire gen.

I see where you're going with this but I think if you're getting a good TV now, it's gonna most likely be one with HDMI 2.1. Even though the games themselves may not hit 4K/120fps, you're at least future proof in the event a mid gen refresh come out that makes more games reach 4K/120fps or if you're into PC gaming.

It just may be me, but there aren't enough tvs produced with the 4k/120hz standard with HDMI 2.1 yet. I was looking for a second TV for my bedroom and I was wanting the best possible 32 in available. While I know most of the TV's with HDMI 2.1 standard are on larger TV's, I was willing to pick up the Samsung Q50 (4k/60hz) 32 in because it fits the space on my wall and it's better than the older joints which were dirt cheaper and next to dirt. Since the Q50 doesn't come with HDMI 2.1, it would have been a complete waste of my money to get the Q50, only to have everyone drop 32 in units at CES 2021 with HDMI 2.1

As I stated, this was a second unit. My primary will be 4k/120hz/HDMI 2.1/Dolby Atmos between 75 and 85 inches.

There's no way to know. If you want to play on your cheap bullshyt TCL, that's your business. Why make a thread to argue about it?
